How Do Vbeam Treatments Work?
The Vbeam laser system produces an intense burst of light that selectively destroys the blood vessels of vascular lesions without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue. The laser is tuned to a frequency that your blood vessels can absorb but your skin cannot.
When your vessels are heated, they coagulate and are slowly absorbed by your body through its natural healing process.

What is the Vbeam procedure?
During treatment, you'll be seated or lying down depending on the area treated. Special protective glasses shield your eyes from the laser light. Our laser specialist will calibrate the laser to your unique needs.
Then, a small handpiece is placed against your skin which delivers short bursts of energy along with a cooling spray between each pulse of the laser. The entire process should last 15 to 20 minutes.
Do Vbeam treatments hurt?
Many patients describe the sensation of the Vbeam laser as similar to snapping a rubber band on your skin. Our specialists may apply a topical anesthetic to help reduce discomfort. As a non-ablative laser, Vbeam doesn't cut, burn, or harm your skin. But the first few laser bursts can be a surprise sensation because the laser flash is very very fast.
Following your treatment, you may feel a slight tingling sensation similar to a mild sunburn. This feeling should dissipate after about 4 to 8 hours. You may also experience swelling for 3 to 5 days. Some patients have some minor bruising.
How long until I see Vbeam results?
Most of our patients see results immediately. Your results will also depend on the number of treatment sessions you undergo. We recommend 3 to 5 sessions spaced a month apart to achieve maximum results.
In many cases, your results will be permanent, but some conditions may recur.
Does Vbeam require aftercare?
For two days after treatment, you should avoid saunas, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, and anything else that causes excessive heat. For two weeks following your procedure, use only non-irritating and non-clogging skin-care products. Scrubs, toners, glycolic acid, retinoids, and bleaching creams could all adversely affect your results.
It's also critical to apply sunscreen every time you go outside for at least three months after your treatment. Use a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. Apply it 20 minutes before you go out, then reapply it every two hours. A wide-brimmed hat can also help protect you from the sun.
