How can Integrative Dermatology help you?

Integrative Dermatology
thrive to get
to the root of an issue, rather than just treating its symptoms.

Acne

First and foremost there is no need for someone to suffer from acne.  There are many proven, well studied and safe treatment options for this condition. We often encounter patients who have tried and failed introductory facials and peels, become irritated from prescription creams and are flaring despite use of over the counter acne treatments. In Dr. Connelly’s and Lee’s experience acne requires a combined approach to skin care and medical treatment. When chosen correctly for your specific skin type the skin care will complement the medical treatment and lead to better results in a shorter period of time.

Rosacea and sensitive skin

While there are various forms of rosacea one common variant involves severe skin sensitivity. Patients often complain that all skin products cause stinging when applied to their face.  Dr. Connelly explains that such patients have impaired their skin barrier and possibly disrupted the normal skin micro flora. In such cases it is important to restore the skin barrier and micro-flora before prescribing traditional rosacea treatment. Again an integrative approach is necessary and after a complete and combined evaluation by both Dr. Connelly and Lee, patients are offered a personalised treatment regimen including their Rosacea Facial developed at iderm. In addition,  the use of specialized skin care products with prescription and naturopathic treatments ensures a complete approach to treatment.

Skin pigmentation

There are many reasons for excess skin pigmentation and not all treatments are the same.  Two most common issues are melasma and sun damage.

Melasma
The mask of pregnancy, develops during pregnancy as dark patches over the face and neck.  It may also worsen with subsequent pregnancies.  A combined approach involving new prescription medication with skin peels and topical brightening creams can lead to significantly lighter skin.

Sun Damage
Secondly and even more common are sun spots and freckles which develop after  years of chronic sun exposure. With the use of medical grade peels such lesions may be improved over a  7-10 day period. To maintain the effects, use of daily sun protection and vitamin enriched brightening creams ensure a long term response.

Sinister lesions,
mole checks and biopsies

At Integrative Dermatology we acknowledge that our patients’ time is valuable. Dr. Connelly’s goal is to provide the most comprehensive care in one visit. If sinister lesions are identified or require further testing, all efforts are made to perform skin biopsies on the same day, avoiding repeat appointments.

“We bring all aspects of skin care under one roof providing care for skin, hair and nail disorders.”
